Plan the evening experience

Walk through your yard after sunset and note the areas that feel too dark or too bright. For example, steps, changes in level and narrow paths deserve attention. Also note the places where you sit, eat or spend time with guests. This gives the project discussion a clear starting point.

Next, think about the mood you want. A quiet seating area may call for a different effect than a gathering space. Share examples you like, but also explain what you dislike about your current setup. Point out nearby bedrooms, street lights and views you want to keep open.

Before choosing fixtures, list any existing wiring, switches or timers you know about. Photos can help the team understand the layout. However, electrical work and installation details need a proper site review. Ask which parts of the work are included in a proposal and which need separate coordination.
